 Missionary Plaque

Elder Tyler Christopher Park
May 2012 - May 2014

O Lord, wilt thou grant unto us that we may have success
in bringing them again unto thee in Christ.
Behold, O Lord, their souls are precious, and many of them are our brethren;
therefore, give unto us, O Lord, power and wisdom that we many bring these,
our brethren, again unto thee.
Alma 31:34, 35

Mormon Elf in Mexico

Everything is going great here in Amilcingo Mexico.  The work is tough the language also but I have faith in my Savior and everything will be great as long as you have faith with any prueba or trial in your life.

630 wake up and roll out of bed say my prayers and try to work out by doing some push ups

700 take a shower and study a little bit before my personal time starts and have some cereal

800 personal study and read in the LDM y Santa Biblia y maybe preach my gospel.

900-10 Comp study for our investigators and what they can benfit or what they need to hear so they can feel the spirit and change their life for the better.

1100 LANGUAGE study this for and hour and then speak the rest of the day in Spanglish haha

1200 Go Preach the Word and work for the salvacion of the people of Mexico. I love the work!

Thats pretty much a day.  Most of times our citas always fall thourgh so we have to try and contact in the street this is really hard.  One thing that I really learned this week was that there is a reason why faith is the first princpio of the Gosepl.  Faith, Repentance, Baptism, Holy Ghost, Perseverar hasta el fin.  If we really have Faith in Christ and our Heavnly Father, then all of the rest will be a want and not a curse.  With faith we will be true to out testimony and the Convenios con Dios.  The difference between a testimony and being converted to the Gospel of Christ is that you can know that the things are true. This was me before college and during high school.  Being converted to the Gospel of Jesucristo es being true to your testimony and always following the council of our Padre Celestial.  This is me now.  I'm converted to the Gospel and being true to my testimony.  We will all have trials but with true faith and being converted to the Gospel of Jesuscristo we can be true Disciples of Christ.

Some things never change!
They do exist...there are 'dinosaurs' in Mexico!!!

Well family I have officially been in one transfer as a missionary and I'm not going anywhere for right now.  I'm excited to learn more in these six months to come and hopefully understand Spanish better.  This week was really fun and we worked super hard.   We still didn’t have much success.  It’s ok right now because If we just keep working and doing what we are supposed to then the numbers really don’t matter.  Tambien this past week was crazy well mainly just Friday and Saturday because I know that College football just started and all that jazz.  I'm glad I’m not there and I know that I'm supposed to be in Amilcingo,  Mexico.  I did throw the football a lot in our house just because I miss it of course.

I’m in the Book of Mosiah right now in the Spanish LDM (Libro de Mormon) and it is going great.  I'm starting to understand more and more!   It’s great to read the words of the profets for us in our days.  I love the Scripture in Nefi nineteen verciculo vientetres where it talks about how the scriptures are for our provecho y instruccion.  The Scriptures are for our enjoyment and instruction.

Seems like everyone is doing just great in the good ol TEXAS especially that football just started.   I hope all of yall are doing great and remembering to read the scriptures.  This week I came upon the captitulo en Jacob.   I love when it talks about how the Lord of the vina works with his servants to bring forth the fruit of the trees and just working diligently with the servants...this not only means the Missionaries but y’all as well because you have callings to be worthy members of His church, and gospel, and to spread the gospel even if you don’t have a tag.  Serving a mission is completely different from being a missionary so just do your best and remember to do the little things.

(Merry-go-round)

This past week was really hard!   We always schedule citas with the people and they always are not there.  The people here in Amilicingo are completely different from the people en Estacion which is just about 10 min away but the people here I guess just don’t want to talk about the gospel.  So this past week has been tough with our investigators and finding nuevos and teaching.  It’s tough to learn Spanish when you aren’t teaching lessons.

On a much better note I baptized Eric this past week!!!!! I practiced everyday to make sure I said it right and I did.  Eric is just awesome he is already converted to the Gospel of Christ and he knows that it is true.  This Sunday he received the don del Espiritu Santo and it was awesome to see him be confirmed as a member of the church.  The best part about yesterday was that not only did he receive the Holy Ghost during priesthood he received the Aaronic priesthood.  It was a surprise but it was super awesome to see him receive the priesthood.  So I have been here in Mexico one month and I have loved everything about it. It’s been really hard but I know what I’m doing and it’s fun to be preaching the gospel in another language that I can barely speak and can’t understand very well.

The ward is pretty good in Amilcingo and they feed me a ton. Don’t worry about that, just pray for my Spanish.   My safety is fine here in Amlicingo trust me it kind of reminds me of the suburbs in the states.

The weather here is amazing but y’all probably already know that, and the food of course.  Elder Hessing and I are getting along great. He’s a good missionary and he has been helping me a lot with Spanish and everything.   A lot of the American elders say I can speak better than they could when they came here but I want to understand also.  If Christ was perfect and had to suffer all things why should we think that it should be easy for us?   Spanish is tough and I’m doing my best everyday!!!  Well today was p-day and I have some awesome pictures of a small temple en the mountains.  The view was awesome.

Love y’all so much and I’m grateful for your support and prayers.

Popocatépetl is an active volcano located in the states of Puebla, State of Mexico, and Morelos, in Central Mexico, and lies in the eastern half of the Trans-Mexican volcanic belt. At 5,426 m (17,802 ft) it is the second highest peak in Mexico, after the Pico de Orizaba at 5,636 m (18,491 ft). Heaven's Nectar!

Texas boy with his Mexican Sombrero

Ok so this past week was a tough week.  Jesus was suppose to be baptized this week but we had to change his baptismal date for the 15th...but he still came to church this week so he understands the importance of church which is really good.  Eric is still on track for his baptism this Friday.  Elder Hessing told me that I'm going to baptize him so I'm pretty excited about that...Eric is escogido really!!! He’s already talking about after his baptism his goal is to go the Temple so he is pretty awesome.

Spanish is still really hard to understand but I feel like I can speak better than I can understand because I can’t understand a lot haha.  So yesterday after church and planning and about to go to bed, I just reflected on all the things that I have in my life with y’all and the scriptures and the Church today...and of course about my mission.  I'm so grateful for my blessings it’s hard to put in words. I'm just so happy for my life and the knowledge of the Savior.  I know this church is real and the priesthood is real.  The people and their faith in changing their lives to follow the Example of Jesucristo is just amazing to me.  I also know that God hears and answers our prayers always.

por ejemplo, this last Sunday I was given the opportunity to work with a Hermano Beltran and he doesn’t know any English and I had to work with him for about 2 hours. It was difficult.  In one of our lessons with the menos activos he started talking about politics and I was just lost. But during my day dreaming I realized that Heavenly Father was answering my prayers about Spanish.  It wasn’t in the way I would like, and it wasn't easy, but it was answered. I just need to do my best to try to become better in Spanish and the Gospel...

Love this boy!!!

Cuautla (kwau-tlah) officially La heroica e histórica Cuautla de Morelos, (The Heroic and Historic Cuautla of Morelos) or H. H. Cuautla de Morelos, the city and municipality in the Mexican state of Morelos and Popocatepetl, the dormant volcano and, at, the second highest peak in Mexico after the Pico de Orizaba.

Soaked after one of the rainstorms!

OK everyone so Mexico is going well.  This week we started to get in to the groove because my first few weeks have been absolutely crazy.  This next week we plan on baptizing Eric, of course, and another man named Jesus.  So both Elder Hessing and I should be dressed in white, so it will be pretty cool.  This past Domingo both Eric and Jesus went to church and so they are on track for baptisim on the 24th.  Even though its hard to speak and understand anything, I know the spirit can tell the investigators everything they need to know because the spirit understands all languages even when I don't haha.

The weather here is amazing!! its about mid 80's to low 90's here and it's the rainy season.  It poured on us a couple of times and I started to sing "there is sunshine in my soul today" Ya I know I'm really a missionary haha.  It was super fun to have that experience.  Also, I found out I'm not allergic to bees!  That was a good sign because I was stung by two huge red hornets and I didn't mess with them this time ...  it was like what the heck!!!  But it's all good. When I was stung some Mexican man started laughing at me hah.  This past Sunday I didn't have to give a talk.  My first Sunday I had to give a testimony and a scripture and just tell the people in my Spanglish that I'm exited to be here.  This past Sunday they called me up to say the prayer without telling me and I was like ok that's new haha.

The work is going good here.  Our area is completely different from other areas because our area is pretty well off and so we cant just contact on the street like most other missionary's so our numbers are not that good. Besides that it's going really well . I'm so happy to be en Mexico and even though its the toughest thing I have ever done in mi vida its one of the most rewarding in my life.  We work so hard to bring people to the waters of baptism.  Why? Because we know it is a covenant that leads to the door of eternal life.  I know that this work is real and true and through the gospel and the scriptures we can become more like Christ...because that is our actual goal to become like our Heavenly Father and his son each day !! That's our meta for our life and eternity.  I know that this is true....
Scripture of the week Mosiah 4:6-12 about faith and the atonement.  (see below)

I know that this church is true ... and through Joseph Smith and the power of God and Jesus Christ, the priesthood is on the earth today. I know that the scriptures are for our benefit and can help us if we apply them in our life. Spanish is difficult but with God's help and your kindness; every thing is possible. I know that the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the church of God.

With Love Elder Park

I say unto you, if ye have come to a knowledge of the goodness of God, and his matchless power, and his wisdom, and his patience, and his long-suffering towards the children of men; and also, the atonement which has been prepared from the foundation of the world, that thereby salvation might come to him that should put his trust in the Lord, and should be diligent in keeping his commandments, and continue in the faith even unto the end of his life, I mean the life of the mortal body—
I say, that this is the man who receiveth salvation, through the atonement which was prepared from the foundation of the world for all mankind, which ever were since the fall of Adam, or who are, or who ever shall be, even unto the end of the world.
And this is the means whereby salvation cometh. And there is none other salvation save this which hath been spoken of; neither are there any conditions whereby man can be saved except the conditions which I have told you.
Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend.
10 And again, believe that ye must repent of your sins and forsake them, and humble yourselves before God; and ask in sincerity of heart that he would forgive you;  and now, if you believe all these things see that ye do them.
11 And again I say unto you as I have said before, that as ye have come to the knowledge of the glory of God, or if ye have known of his goodness and have tasted of his love, and have received a remission of your sins, which causeth such exceedingly great joy in your souls, even so I would that ye should remember, and always retain in remembrance, the greatness of God, and your own nothingness; and his goodness; and long-suffering towards you, unworthy creatures, and humble yourselves even in the depths of humility, calling on the name of the Lord daily, and standing steadfastly in the faith of that which is to come, which was spoken by the mouth of the angel.
12 And behold, I say unto you that if ye do this ye shall always rejoice, and be filled with the love of God, and always retain a remission of your sins; and ye shall grow in the knowledge of the glory of him that created you, or in the knowledge of that which is just and true.

Tucker Roeller from Southlake will be serving in Tyler's area this Fall.  He had a couple questions for him and here are the answers.  I think I'm going to always say 'someone else' wants to know something and then I'll get the answers to my questions...  ;)

OK so for tucker tell him that:

1 I haven''t bought any boots and don't think I will because Eccos are water proof and I don't walk in the rain but tambien tell him if he gets some make sure they are light and durable

2 backpack ...have a nice backpack but not too nice but here they give us fanny packs and they are amazing

3  we go to the lavaderia they are members so they wash all of our clothes for free

4 sickness I've been lucky so far just don't drink the water and pray a lot !!!
